The origin of the name "Nunland" appears to have been lost in time. We believe that the house and land did form part of a large estate belonging to the church and that the records were destroyed during the Reformation.
In 1909 Mr James George Marshall Cranstoun a mahogany importer redesigned and extended the house into its present form. The stained glass and some of the fire places in the house are in the style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
There are just 9 lodges/cottages set in spacious parkland at the heart of Nunland, surrounded on all sides by green fields.
The 5 lodges have been totally refurbished during 2007. They now provide very comfortable accommodation for up to 5 persons.
The 3 cosy cottages are each designed to accommodate 2 persons. They are very popular with many of our guests who return several times each year. They are exceptionally well sound proofed and well insulated so that you can enjoy a relaxing break at any time of the year.
This lodge was designed for wheel chair users and has been classed as catagory 1 under the national accessibility scheme. The lodge sleeps up to 4 persons. Like all good designs, the lodge provides very comfortable accommodation for users of ALL abilities!
General
Graded between 3 and 4 stars (self-catering), all our accommodation is well equipped for your comfort, with colour TV, electric cooker, microwave and fridge. Solway Lodge has a washing machine/dryer.
Beds are made up for your arrival and towels provided; a cot and highchair are available.
Heating is by electric fires and radiators. Pets are most welcome at Nunland but we also have some pet-free accommodation.
A free wi-fi internet connection is available to guests in the cottages and access can be arranged for visitors staying in our lodges.
Due to popular demand all our accommodation is now non smoking.
Parking is adjacent to each lodge/cottage.
